Daiya's flatbread innovation features three Italian trattoria-inspired flavours and is available in the frozen aisle now

VANCOUVER, BC , Sept. 6, 2022 /CNW/ -- Daiya, pioneer of the plant-based food movement, has announced its launch of the first-ever plant-based and allergen-friendly flatbread. Inspired by an Italian trattoria experience, Daiya's newest plant-based innovation line features two delicious flavours that are sure to delight new and existing customers, marking the brand's continued push for tasty and convenient plant-based choices for all.

Perfect for lunch, or as a shared appetizer, the new flatbreads feature Daiya's award-winning Cutting Board Cheeze Shreds on top of a thin gluten-free crust. Bringing to the table complementary flavours that are sure to level-up any at-home meal, the flavours include:

Mushroom, Caramelized Onion & Fig — Savoury, meet sweet. Hearty, rich mushrooms and caramelized onions plus sweet fig and kale are a match made in heaven. Topped with a creamy garlic sauce and Daiya's much-loved mozza and feta-flavour cheeze.

Meatless Italian Sausage Flavoured Crumbles, Roasted Pepper & Kale — This flatbread has it all. Meatless Italian sausage flavoured crumbles, sweet and smoky roasted yellow peppers, leafy green kale, and mouthwatering parmesan and feta-flavour cheeze.

"At Daiya, our longstanding tradition of breakthrough plant-based discoveries continues with our first-to-market flatbreads," says Dan Hua , Vice President of Marketing. "We know that consumers are often still choosing to cook at home, versus eating out as a result of the pandemic, and so we wanted to ensure they had the option for both a quick and convenient, yet delicious-tasting flatbread that was both plant-based and allergen-friendly."

The plant-based food industry has seen monumental success over the past few years, growing 6.2% in 2021 alone – bringing the total plant-based market value to an all-time high of $7.4 billion *. The seemingly permanent shift of consumers towards plant-based alternatives places expectations on leading brands to not only provide alternatives, but an array of choices on shelf. Daiya's launch of Flatbreads does just that, following hot on the heels of the launch of their Grilling Cheeze Block and Feta Flavour Block earlier this year.

The Daiya Flatbreads can be found within these frozen aisles now; Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Walmart, Save-on-Foods, Metro, and Whole Foods. SRP $8.99 .

People still make a huge deal about the loss of McDonald’s all-day breakfast since the chain announced it’d be removed due to the pandemic. It’s been over two years since then, everyone (since March 2020, to be specific). I’m not sure we’ll be seeing the return of a 2 p.m. hangover helper Egg McMuffin anytime soon. But there’s one fast food chain that quietly sells breakfast all day, and I can personally attest it hits the spot when you need it, no golden arches necessary.

The Campbell Soup Co. is launching a flavorful addition to its lineup. FlavorUp is a cooking concentrate to add to meat, grain or vegetables, and is the first major brand launch since 2016, Food Dive reports. Linda Lee, chief marketing officer of Campbell Soup’s U.S. Meals and Beverage division, told Food Dive that FlavorUp “is the newest way to cook up concentrated flavor with just a squeeze, while elevating meals quickly and affordably.”

With the economy a bit wobbly at the moment, burger chains offer the ability to feed rumbly tummies without breaking the bank. Let's take a closer look at Shake Shack (NYSE: SHAK), McDonald's (NYSE: MCD), and Beyond Meat (NASDAQ: BYND). The "better burger" trend has pushed a handful of chains deeper into expansion, but Shake Shack is a star in that niche.

The coffee industry is complex and multilayered, including everything from producers and distributors to processors, wholesalers, and retailers. Notable names in the coffee industry include Starbucks Corp., The J.M. Smucker Co., and Restaurant Brands International Inc. There is no single sector or index for the coffee industry, and coffee-related stocks can be found in both the consumer discretionary and consumer staples sectors.

Fish is one of my favorite foods to eat and cook. That being said, people are intimidated by it because it can be a delicate ingredient to prepare and season. But one of my favorite ways to make fish only involves three extra ingredients (not including fish, salt, and pepper). The virality of Starbucks 's Pumpkin Spice Latte has, for many people, pushed out all other flavors when it comes to people's associations with fall. For pumpkin spice lovers, the first months of fall are a wonderful time of the year — business intelligence company Morning Consult found that 25% of Americans feel that late August is not too early to start selling pumpkin spice products. The same study found that 33% of adults feel that even mid-September is still too early to get hit with a pumpkin spice onslaught.
