If you think crispy onions make everything better, this might be the best breakfast sandwich hack ever.
TikTok is singing the praises of this little egg-frying upgrade. Instead of cooking an egg by its lonesome, people are cracking ’em in pre-cooked frozen onion rings. The easy trick instantly takes any breakfast sandwich to the next level.
Watch along as In The Know’s Dillion Thompson tests out TikToker @theshayspence’s innovative “onion ring eggs” hack.
Step 1: Pre-cook a few frozen onion rings in the oven or air fryer. Dillon says “the bigger, the better” when selecting your rings.
Step 2: Heat up oil or cooking spray in a skillet or nonstick pan. Toss in your cooked onion rings.
Step 3: Carefully crack an egg inside the onion ring. There might be some spillage so just make sure the whole yolk is inside the ring.
Step 4: Flip the egg once it’s fully cooked on one side. Cook to your preference.
Step 5: Next, assemble your sandwich. Enjoy.
Dillon dubs his creation the “Avengers of Breakfast Sandwiches.” He added an onion ring egg, tomatoes, lettuce and Beyond Meat sausage patty topped with hot sauce on an English muffin.
In a couple of bites, the sammie passes with flying colors, and Dillon is officially an onion ring eggs convert.
“Oh yeah. Oh, man. That is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. And this hack is super easy. It gives the eggs a really convenient shape,” Dillon says.
“You can just put them right on any breakfast sandwich, however you want,” he adds.” “It’s just as easy as frying eggs is anyway. Plus, you get those delicious crispy onion rings in the outside. This stuff is really good. We’re going to give this hack a 9 out of 10. And I am going to give my stomach nine more onion rings sandwiches.”
